Kickoff 2009

KICKOFF is an annual event led by Student and Enrolment Services in collaboration with the Alumni Association and Dinos Athletics to welcome students back to campus and celebrate the start of the academic year.  For students, it is an opportunity for us to say welcome to new students and welcome back to returning students.  KICKOFF is also a chance for faculty and staff to celebrate their role in the student experience and enjoy the new energy that comes from everyone returning to campus and an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their university and to meet future alumni.

For everyone, it is a celebration of the start to the 2009/2010 year on campus.
KICKOFF 2009 is 2-day event and will be held on:

Friday, September 11

Red Friday Rally to launch Dinos Red Fridays for 2009: to be held on the lawn to the North of the Prairie Chicken (outside the Science A and MSC Link)

Saturday, September 12

Tailgate and Dinos vs U of A Golden Bears football game at McMahon Stadium followed by a student cab at the Den.

What's new this year?

KICKOFF features several new and exciting activities in 2009.

1. Video Competition – Students, alumni, staff and faculty are invited to submit a 30 second video promoting Kickoff ’09.  The winning entry will receive a MacBook sponsored by the U of C Bookstore
2. Dinos Most Devoted Fan Competition – Students can participate in a competition to choose the Dinos Most Devoted Fan.  The competition is sponsored by the U of C Alumni Association and the winner will receive $2,500 towards tuition
3. KICKOFF Cab – The Students’ Union will be hosting a student cab on Saturday evening following the football game.  You must be at the game to pick up your VIP ticket which will give you priority access and no cover charge

Dinos - 2008 Hardy Cup Champions

The Dinos Football team is looking for a strong start to the season as they set out to defend their Canada West Hardy Cup title on the way to the 2009 Vanier Cup.  The season home opener against traditional rivals, the U of A Golden Bears, is shaping up to be a hot contest.  The Dinos figured prominently in the recent CFL Draft and the team boasts some exceptional new recruits.
